我想直接利用ORACLE8i内部的OO功能，但是一直找不到好的工具。

ROSE2002不支持行类型，在ORACLE的SQL实现中，它的泛化是用外键来处理的。不晓得新版本怎么样？
VISIO 2002一个行类型只能定义一个表，真是岂有此理！
PB的PowerDesign 好象根本不支持对象！不晓得新版本怎么样？
ER-Studio（5.02最新版）我没有试过，但是我猜既然是ER应该不会支持OO吧！

刚刚下了一个Oracle9i Developer Suite，但是他不支持可视化建立对象表的索引和关系。

我以前没有用过ORACLE的OO建模工具，有没有这个方面的先行者可以当老师？这个方面还有什么其他的工具吗？能不能指点一些好书？
我觉得《ORACLE8 UML对象建模设计》还可以。

ORACLE8i不支持行类型的内嵌泛化（继承），这实在不爽！不晓得9i有没有解决这个问题。

我同事fixing defects for Data Modeler of Rational Rose Enterprise.
我以前开发的java addin/J2EE addin for Rose Enterprise.
Now I am developing Pattern (GOF, J2EE pattern) for XDE.

 Sorry, she can not find the type of "row type"--But there is a ROWID which maps to LONG

Hope it could help.

you can use "%type" for field and "%rowtype" for table in PLSQL
but if you want to design OO database, maybe you should use "nest table" and "varray"
Oracle published a book about UML, it seems that can be download at shared file here

是用 Rational Rose Enterprise的Data Modeler建立的Data Modeler吧！
你的同事能够修改Rational Rose Enterprise的Data Modeler，那岂非绝顶高手？！我还暗中高兴呢！真是空欢喜一场。

尽管大家迫切想学好英语，但是拜托，我们交流的时候同时写上中文好不好？我的英语连三级都没过，不要恐吓我了！

恐吓到没有。只是中文是外挂平台，写起来不够快。技术的问题反正英文大家也能看懂。我自己的英文也不好，正在努力学。

至于修改Rose是份内的事情。正如Microsoft的人要改他们的产品。我到不觉得自己比别的Developer高多少，不过我到是真能该Rose的Java/J2EE的 Addin，呵呵。。。。自己喜欢UML，又一直作rose的产品，因此信息获得渠道可能多一些，希望和同道交流而已。因为在这里我自己也学了不少东西呀。。。。。。。呵呵。。。

有源代码，你也能改Java/j2EEaddin.我的技术还好，但决不是绝顶高手那种。我好多同学写程序都比我好多了。当然，我也有自己的长处。。（下面略去500字。。赫赫）。。
我们公司是Rational在北美最大的合作伙伴之一。 其实，Rose Enterprise 李好多东西都是我们开发的。不过，不是我的公司，而我只是给人打工而已，写写代码，因此也没什么好骄傲的。
但Rational市场是很敏感的。
1。 Rational real -time which aims to the Tele-market.
2. XDE FOR Java(We call this one as H-shell or WSW) is going to dominate the Java Design Marketing
3. XDE .Net version(V-shell) will occupy the market of the windows platform.

Now our group are concentrating on the Patterns of XDE, which will be one of the key parts of it. We expect it to give some new stuff for the XDE.
Regarding to the Data Modeler, I know something special about it. Actially the petal importer is developed by my group :p. It means if you get some exceptions for importing, you can blame me. haha..
But I know little about Database and what I konw is that they are developing it for XDE. And I dont know what new features are included in the Data Modeler.
